Kovil (Ukrainian), Kowel (Polish) or Kovel (Russian) (Cyrillic: Ковель) is a town now situated in western Ukraine in the Volyn oblast. It has a population of 62.9 thousand (2004). Kovil is the north-western terminus of the Ukrainian rail system. This is a continuation of the same line built in 1877 that links Kovil with Lublin and Warsaw in Poland.
