Kenneth Arnold

For people who check facts
Kenneth Arnold made what is generally considered the first major UFO sighting

In June 24 1947, Arnold -- a Boise, Idaho pilot and forest service employee -- reported seeing nine unusual flying objects between Mount Rainier and Mount Washington while he was searching for a missing airplane. He saw 3 disc shaped objects moving in an odd formation over the mountain.

Arnold's story was widely reported by the Associated Press, and is usually credited as the catalyst for modern UFO interest. The term flying saucer was coined by his report.
