Karachay-Cherkessia (Карача́ево-Черке́сская Респу́блика, or less formal Карача́ево-Черке́ссия) is a constituent republic of Russia. Its capital is the city of Cherkessk.

The main ethnic groups of the republic, apart from a sizeable Russian population, are the Turkic Karachay, and the Cherkess, who speak a Caucasian language.
