Jonathan Larson

For people who check facts
Jonathan Larson (February 4, 1960-January 25, 1996) was a composer from New York City who created musicals including Rent and Tick, Tick... Boom. Although these musicals appeal heavily to angst-ridden teenagers, they seriously tackle issues such as multiculturalism, addiction, sexual orientation and HIV (for the record: Jonathan Larson was heterosexual and HIV negative). Rent was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and several Tony Awards and the scores of his shows reveal that he was an apt composer and lyricist. One Tick, Tick... Boom! song called "Sunday" is an hommage to Stephen Sondheim, who supported Larson, staying close to melody and lyrics of Sondheim's own song of the same title but turning it from a manifesto about art into a waiter's lament.
