Geography

Ixelles is located in south of Brussels and is divided into two parts by the Louise Avenue (l'avenue Louise in French), which is part of the Bruxelles-Ville municipality. The east part of the municipality (the smallest of the two parts) includes the Bailly Street (la rue du Bailly in French) and extends roughly from the Louise Avenue to the Brugmann Avenue (l'avenue Brugmann in French). The west part of the municipality (which is the largest part) includes the sites of the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Matongé and the Flagey Square (la Place Flagey in French).

The Bois de La Cambre (French) (or Ter kamerenbos in Dutch) is located just south of Ixelles.
