Ipswich, Australia
The city of Ipswich is situated 40 kilometres to the west of the Queensland state capital, Brisbane. The city has a population of 129000 persons (Census 2001).It is the site of the Royal Australian Air Force base Amberley, the largest operational air force base in Australia. It is the home to 1 and 6 Squadrons, flying the General Dynamics F-111 strike aircraft, as well as to 38 Squadron's Caribou aircraft.
Ipswich is also home to a satellite campus of the University of Queensland.
