Integrated circuit encapsulation

Integrated circuit encapsulation (IC encapsulation, encapsulation) is design and manufacturing of protective packages for integrated circuits.

It is the last stage of IC packaging (semiconductor package assembly) in semiconductor device fabrication.

Sometimes the term "encapsulation" is used synonymously to "packaging".
