Hyundai Group
Hyundai Group (Hangul: 현대 그룹; Hanja: 現代 그룹) is a major multinational conglomerate based in South Korea, although it is now a shadow of its former self. Before restructuring (beginning circa 2000), Hyundai's major areas of activity included shipbuilding, car manufacture, construction, retailing, finance, and electronics. After founder Chung Ju-yung's death in 2001, various components of Hyundai—including Hyundai Motor Group, Hyundai Heavy Industries, and Hyundai Engineering and Construction—were split off into separate companies.
