Gonzaga University
Gonzaga University is a relatively small Jesuit university in Spokane, Washington. Both singer Bing Crosby and former Speaker of the House Thomas Foley attended Gonzaga, but neither graduated there. John Stockton of NBA's Utah Jazz fame and the Portland Trail Blazers' Dan Dickau are both graduates.
Gonzaga University, officially nicknamed the Bulldogs but often called the Zags, is part of the NCAA Division I West Coast Conference. It has no football program. Its men's basketball team, which did not make its first appearance in the NCAA tournament until 1995 (more than a decade after Stockton graduated), has become nationally prominent since making the regional finals of the NCAA tournament ("Elite Eight") in 1999.
