Gidon Kremer

Gidon Kremer (born in Riga, Latvia on February 27, 1947) is a violinist and conductor. He studied with David Oistrakh. In the late 1990s he formed a string orchestra, the Kremerata Baltica, from young players from the Baltic region.

Kremer is widely respected. Among the many composers who have dedicated work to him is Sofia Gubaidulina (Offertorium).
