Freedom Force was a video game created by Sunsoft for the Nintendo Entertainment System, in which the player takes the role of a sharpshooter in a counter-terrorist organisation. Freedom Force was one of the few NES games to make use of the light gun accessory.

In Marvel Comics, Freedom Force was a government-sponsored team originally composed mainly of Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Over the years, the team's membership included both heroes and villains: Mystique, Destiny, Pyro, Avalanche, Blob, Spiral, Spider-Woman II, Crimson Commando, Super Sabre, and Stonewall. While they were given many unpopular tasks, such as enforcing the Mutant Registration Act and arresting the outlaw X-Men, they also acted heroically to save the people of Dallas during the Fall of the Mutants storyline.

Freedom Force was disbanded shortly after a disasterous mission in Kuwait during the first Gulf War, in which half the team was killed, badly injured, or abandoned in enemy territory.
