Frankish language
Frankish (also German FrÃÂänkish) is a German West Franconian dialect. It is spoken in Alsace and Lorraine, a region in France and subsequently heavily influenced by French. Though not readily intelligible to speakers of standard German, it is closely related to other nearby Franconian dialects, such as Palatinate German. It is often confused with the Alsatian language, an unrelated Alemannic German dialect. Both languages are called Alsacien in French. The term Frankish is sometimes used to refer to all Franconian dialects.
