There was origionally three equal Consuls that made up Napoleon's Republic, however Napoleon soon arose mightier then his fellow comrades.

The title borne by Napoleon Bonaparte, before his coronation in 1804 after establishing himself as the dictatorial and millitary ruler of France.

The title borne by Napoleon's second, Jean Jacques Régis de Cambacérès, until 1804.
