European Parliament election 2004

The European Parliament elections will be held from June 10, 2004 to June 13, 2004.

These will happen shortly after the Enlargement of the European Union, which happens at May 1, 2004. Ten new countries will elect Members of the European Parliament for the first time.

Gibraltar is to be represented as part of the South West England region of the United Kingdom.

New parties in the 2004 election

In the United Kingdom, the Respect Unity Coalition was established to contest in this European Parliament Election with the intention to use it as a springboard for a campaign against Tony Blair's Government.
A European Union-wide political party, the European Greens, was established in Rome on 21 February 2004 to contest in this election.
