Emperor Go-Toba of Japan
Emperor Go-Toba (後鳥羽天皇) was the 82nd imperial ruler of Japan and a poet and editor.
Lived: 1180-1239
Ruled: 1183-1198
He is well known as an empire side leader at Jokyu incident with Juntoku of when he was a retired emperor.
His biggest contribution for literature is Shin-kokin-waka-shu(The New Ansology of Ancient and Modern Waka). He ordered its editing and took part in the working group of edition as an editor.
