Elitserien
Elitserien is a Swedish high-calibre ice hockey league.The first season of Elitserien was played in 1975/1976. FÃÂärjestad BK and DjurgÃÂÃÂ¥rdens IF hold the record of 6 wins (Svenska mÃÂästare) each in the league.

Organisation
The present Elitserien contains 12 teams, playing 50 rounds each.
The winning team of Elitserien earns the advantage of playin on home-field in all decisive playoff games. As of 2002, the winning team also receives a 1 million SEK as a bonus.

The playoffs
The playoffs begin when Elitserien has finished. The eight best teams compete to win the gold medal (SM-Guld). Team number 9 and 10 have finished their season, while number 11 and 12 play cualification rounds to stay in Elitserien.
