Genus:Corvus
Species:ruficollis edithae
Binomial name
Corvus ruficollis edithae
The Dwarf Raven, Corvus ruficollis edithae is about the size of the Carrion Crow, Corvus corone but with longer bill and somewhat more brownish cast to the feathers especially when worn.

This subspecies of the Brown-necked Raven occours principally in the African country of Somalia and can be distinguished from its slightly larger near relative C. ruficollis by its call (voice) and slight differences in its behaviour.

Though currently concidered a subspecies of the larger bird, current thoughts are being directed towards giving it true species status soon, rather like the Hooded Crow, Corvus cornix from its near relative, the Carrion Crow, indeed, it is now thought to be possibly closer to the Pied Crow C. albus especially in its behaviour than to the brown-necked Raven.
