Dru Sjodin

Dru Kathrina Sjodin (1981 - 2003) was a student from the University of North Dakota who is suspected to have been a crime victim. Sjodin was reported disappeared, and her disappearance garnered great media coverage.

On November 22, 2003, Sjodin finished her shift at Victoria's Secret located in Columbia Mall in Grand Forks and apparently went shopping in the mall. About this time or shortly after she spoke with her boyfriend via her cellular phone and Dru abruptly ended the conversation by saying something to the effect of "Oh no!" or "Oh my God!" About three hours later her boyfriend received a short call from the same cellular phone but all he heard was static and the sound of buttons pressed. It has been determined that this second phone call originated somewhere near Fisher, Minnesota.

On December 2, a suspect, 50-year-old Alfonso Rodriguez, Jr, was arrested in connection with the investigation into Sjodin's dissapearance. According to police reports, Rodriguez reported being at the same mall where Sjodin worked on the day she disappeared, allegedly watching the movie Once Upon a Time in Mexico. But that movie was not playing at any theater in that mall or nearby during that day. The police also found shopping receipts of purchases that Rodriguez had made at the mall that day.

Dru's body was recovered April 17, 2004, when deep snow drifts began to melt.
