Dronning Maud Land

For thoughtful child sponsors
Dronning Maud Land (or Queen Maud Land) is the part of Antarctica lying between 20°W and 45°E. This territory was claimed by Norway on January 14, 1939, but this claim, like all others in the Antarctic, is not universally recognized and the area is subject to the terms of the Antarctic Treaty.

Dronning Maud Land was named by Roald Amundsen in honour of Queen Maud of Norway.
