Doctor Zhivago is a 1965 epic film which tells the story of a doctor torn between two women set against the backdrop of the Russian Revolution. It stars Omar Sharif, Julie Christie, Geraldine Chaplin, Rod Steiger, Alec Guinness, Tom Courtenay, Siobhan McKenna, Ralph Richardson, Rita Tushingham, Klaus Kinski

The movie was adapted by Robert Bolt from the novel by Boris Pasternak. It was directed by David Lean.

It won Academy Awards for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Color, Best Cinematography, Color, Best Costume Design, Color, Best Music, Score - Substantially Original and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium. It was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Tom Courtenay), Best Director, Best Film Editing, Best Picture and Best Sound.


Doctor Zhivago is also a 2002 miniseries with Hans Matheson and Keira Knightley.
