Directory assistance

Directory assistance in telecommunications is a telephone call one can make to find out a specific phone number of a residence or business, provided the location is actually listed in the local telephone book. In Canada and the United States directory assistance may be contacted by the telephone number 1-your area code-555-1212. Also the number 4-1-1 is commonly used for this purpose.
