Cremaster
In human males, the cremaster muscle is a discontinuous layer of skeletal muscle tissue found in the scrotum between the external and internal layers of spermatic fascia. Anatomically, it is the extension of the internal oblique muscle through the inguinal canal. The function of the cremaster is to elevate the scrotum and testicles, in an attempt to regulate their temperature to the optimum for sperm production, slightly below normal core body temperature.
The Cremaster Cycle is the name of a sequence of five films by Matthew Barney, entitled Cremaster 1 to Cremaster 5.
