County Roscommon

County Roscommon (Ros ComÃÂáin in Irish) is a county located in the centre of Ireland. Area: 2549 kmÃÂò (984 square miles). Population (census 2002): 53,803. Roscommon is in the province of Connacht.
Roscommon is also the name of the county town. Athlone on the River Shannon -- which lies partly in Roscommon and partly in County Westmeath (in the neighbouring province of Leinster) -- is considered to be Ireland's most central town.
