Cortina d'Ampezzo

Cortina d'Ampezzo (population 8000) is a town in the province of Veneto, northern Italy. Located in the Dolomites at an altitude of 1210 m, it is a popular winter sport resort.

Cortina d'Ampezzo was the host town of the 1956 Winter Olympics. The 1944 Winter Olympics were also scheduled to be held in Cortina, but were cancelled because of World War II.
