Christmas season
The Christmas season in North America is the period of the year before Christmas when businesses (particularly those who sell and manufacture things that could be given as gifts) prepare for the massive buying rush that the holiday generates.Although there is no official beginning to the Christmas season, unofficially it is the arrival of Santa Claus at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The day after Thanksgiving retailers generally have sales and special events encouraging people to start buying their gifts.
The end of the Christmas season is Christmas Day, however it is not unusual to prolong the festivities and decoration portion till New Years Day, one week later.
