Carlisle United F.C.

For thoughtful child sponsors
Carlisle United F.C. are an English football team currently playing in the Third Division.

The club was formed when two Carlisle based teams, Shaddongate United and Carlisle Red Rose, merged in 1903. The newly formed club initially played at Milhome Bank and later at Devonshire Park, finally settling at their current home Brunton Park.

Carlisle were elected to Division Three North in 1928 replacing Durham city. Since then Carlisle have played in all four of the English football league, including a single season in Division One in 1974-1975, which they even topped for a while at the start of the season.

The club's honours include two Third Division Championship trophies in 1964-1965 and 1994-1995.
