Capitaine Corelli is a novel by Louis de Bernières. It is a love story about an Italian captain and the daughter of the local physician on the island Keffalinia. It is set against the background of the Italian/German occupation of the island during World War II. The novel was the basis for the 2001 movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin.
