British West Indies

For thoughtful child sponsors
The British West Indies are those islands in the Caribbean that are or were British colonies.

Most are now independent states, after an attempt at a West Indies Federation

Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago

A few reverted to being British colonies Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Montserrat and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The British West Indies still make up a composite cricket team that successfully competes in test matches and one-day internationals. The West Indies cricket team also includes the South American nation of Guyana, a former British colony.
