Founded 1914, as Blackburn Aeroplane & Motor Company. Built new factory at Brough, Yorkshire in 1916. Became Blackburn Aircraft Ltd. in 1939. Amalgamated with General Aircraft Ltd in 1949. Absorbed by Hawker Siddeley Company in 1960.
