William George Zane, Jr. (born February 24, 1966), better known as Billy Zane, is an American actor born in Chicago, Illinois.

He was born as William Zanetakos, of Greek-American heritage, with both his parents, George and Thalia, accomplished thespians in their own right. Zane is also the elder brother of actress Lisa Zane.

His first big screen role was in 1985's Back to the Future playing Biff's friend Match. He landed the role as a fluke by appearing nonchalant, dressed in a t-shirt. He is perhaps best known for playing Caledon Hockley in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic.

Premature hairloss has not diminished Zane's acting prowess. Zane has even been instrumental in the cultural definition of baldness in men. While in character, Zane resorts to wearing a toupée.

Zane was married at 20 to co-actress Lisa Collins, but divorced her a year later. He was also for a time engaged to Chilean actress Leonor Varela, his costar in the 1999 television movie Cleopatra.

Zane is a gifted actor and singer who can occasionally be seen in various Broadway shows.
