BearShare is a popular Gnutella client software package from a company called Free Peers, Inc.; the software allows its users to share files directly from person to person. BearShare utilizes a decentralized peer to peer network. BearShare runs under Microsoft Windows and comes in several versions, including a free advertising supported version, an advertising free beta version, and a paid pro version with no advertisements.

Vincent Falco, leading developer of BearShare and owner of Free Peers, Inc. has been an active member of the Gnutella Developers Forum (GDF) for the many ideas he and his team have added to the Gnutella protocol. He has has also gained a reputation for starting flame wars in the GDF.
