In the fictional Star Trek universe, the Battle of Wolf 359 was the Federation's first major battle against the Borg. A contingent of forty Klingon Empire and Starfleet ships assembled near the star Wolf 359 under the command of Admiral J. P. Hanson of Starbase 324 to intercept a Borg cube ship traveling to Earth. 11,000 Starfleet personnel and thirty-nine ships were lost, including:

• USS Buran (NCC-57580)
• USS Chekov (NCC-53702)
• USS Firebrand (NCC-68723)
• USS Gage (NCC-11672)
• USS Kyushu (NCC-65491)

• USS Melbourne (NCC-62043)
• USS Roosevelt (NCC-2573)
• USS Saratoga (NCC-31911)
• USS Tolstoy (NCC-62095)
• USS Yamaguchi (NCC-26510)

This overwhelming victory for the Borg was likely due in part to the then-assimilated Locutus' knowledge of Starfleet tactics being available to the Borg.

Following its victory, the Borg ship continued on its course to Earth.

The two-part episode "The Best of Both Worlds" and the episode "Emissary" chronicled the battle.
