Bates college
Bates College is a small liberal arts college located in Lewiston, Maine. A co-educational institution since it was founded in 1855, the college now consists of approximately 1,600 students. Bates ranks among the most selective small colleges in the nation; in 2003, only 29% of applicants were admitted. Traditionally, the bulk of Bates students have come from the Northeast, but the college's reputation attracts students from around the globe.
