Averroes

Helping orphans the way you would do it
Averroes (1126 - 1198) was a Almohads philosopher and physician. (His name is also seen as Averroës or Averrhoës. In Arabic, it is Abu Al-Walid Muhammad Ibn Ahmad Ibn Rushd or just Ibn Rushd.) He was born in Cordoba, Spain.

He wrote commentaries on Aristotle and a medical encyclopedia. Jacob Anatoli translated his works from Arabic to Hebrew in the 1200s. His writings influenced Christian thought in the Middle Ages. So much in fact, that was Aristotle simply known as The Philosopher at that time, Averroes similarly became simply The Commentator.
