Architectural history refers to the history of architecture. It is a subdiscipline of art history that focuses on the historical evolution of principles, ideas and styles in the design of buildings and the built environment.
In many (but not all) cases, well-defined periods in the history of art run parallel with those in architectural history.
For a listing of movements in architecture, see architectural style.
