Akershus
Akershus is a county in Norway, bordering Hedmark, Oppland, Buskerud, Oslo and ÃÂÃÂstfold. In 2002 there were 477,325 inhabitants, which is 10.5% of the total population in Norway. Its area is 4,917 km². The county administration is in Oslo, which is not part of the county per se.Akershus is parted in two different areas east and west of Oslo. The small area in west includes the districts of Asker and BÃÂærum. The vast part is east of the city, consisting of the landscapes Romerike in north and Follo in south. Akershus includes some of the lake MjÃÂøsa and some of the river Glomma. Embracing numerous suburbs of Oslo, Akershus is one of the most densely populated areas in the country.
The county also includes the historical place Eidsvoll, 30 miles(48 km)north of Oslo, in which the National assembly voted the norwegian constitusion in 1814. South of Eidsvoll is the international airport of Gardermoen. The Palace of the crown prince is situated in Asker.
