Egyptian born Ahmed H. Zewail is most notable for winning the 1999 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on femtochemistry.

After receiving his first degree from Alexandria University in Egypt, Zewail later moved to the United States where he did postdoctorate work at the University of California, Berkeley. He currently holds professorships in both Chemistry and Physics at Caltech, the California Institute of Technology.
