ALVIN

For thoughtful child sponsors
ALVIN is a submarine built in 1963. It made several discoveries, and was also used in 1966 to recover a lost american H-bomb near the Spanish coast. It made more than 3,800 dives, and is still in use. The name ALVIN was created both from Allyn Vine, the head behind its construction, as well as the popular cartoon character, Alvin the Chipmunk.
