• April 18 - The Great Toronto Fire destroys much of that city's downtown, but kills no one.
• The dominion government purchased Alberta and Saskatchewan from the Northwest Territories for Canadian dollar 1,636,000 dollars. Alberta and Saskatchewan then were granteded $ 1,030,375 each and $ 62,500 each for the next five years
• Henry Ford opens an automobile manufacturing plant in Windsor, Ontario
